Get Your Heart On Tour [10.29.11]
Me and Athena went to Ethan’s costume birthday party and we got there around 5. We had the intention of just eating and seeing the kiddies so we left around 6:30. It was a smooth ride on the freeway, but right when we get off all chaos ensues and of course we get lost. How I hate driving in San Francisco. We got to the Regency Ballroom a little before 8:30 and Mariana’s Trench was still playing, but when we went to the bathroom everyone came pouring in. We just chilled out in the little room where all the merch is until The Cab started playing. The only songs I knew they sang were Angel With A Shot Gun, I’ll Run, Bounce, and Take My Hand.
After we just chilled in the back before FTSK hit the stage. Me and Athena were making fun of the backdrop because it was just so big with their faces! And finally they came on. Their set was fun though. They sang Woah Oh, Hip Hop Chick, Hey Brittany, She’s A Lady, and a few other songs including that new one they just put out. It’s so weird seeing FTSK with only 4 band members now. But other than that it was fun. After their set, me and Athena just sat down while they were setting up for Simple Plan.
Around 10:30 Simple Plan finally came on and it was just so fun. They sang a lot of old and new songs so I was very pleased with the whole thing. When they were talking about a shower bus and they said everyone who is over 18 can join there was very few screams. That’s weird because I would think most people there for them would be 18+. Me and Athena just stood in the back and danced the whole time. Jump was fun because everyone in that place was jumping. My favorite songs they sang were Jet Lagged, Summer Paradise, and Loser of the Year. The covers they did was so good Fuck You/Dynamite/Raise Your Glass. At 11:50 they finally came out to do their encore of Perfect and right when they were gonna close the song at 11:57 all the systems shut off because it was fucking curfew. They didn’t finish the song, but they spent 3 minutes just making the crowd scream for their exit. It was funny and sad at the same time.
At the end, me and Athena go to the bathroom, then exit to wait outside. We go to the side as usual and we see Sebastian meeting people. That boy is such a gentleman in the way he talks and everything. It’s a little endearing. Then after we see Kyle Burns and talk to him for a little. Athena told Kyle their phones were twinsies and he asked her who her backdrop was when she tried to hide it and she was hesitant to say Big Time Rush, but the girl next to us was cool and started singing Big Night. Haha. After we talk for a bit we rush up to meet Pierre. Athena gave all the boys we met glowing fangs so it looks cute in my fisheye photo with him. I got a regular photo, hugged him then left. It was such a fun night seeing a full set of my 10 year old self’s favorite band. It’s creepy how I’ve been listening to them for half my life. I’m also a little upset I didn’t dress up because this is the closest I’ve come to a Halloween show. I got home at 2 and had to wake up at 5:30 to go to work. Boo.
